  12. This makes complete sense, I would never source from 1688 simply because of "point# 4". Any experienced seller would agree right from the get go to not source from 1688 because there are no type of insurance of service quality. Good lucky suing or taking legal court action in china with a 1688 supplier while your in the USA… (Specially in this COVID time).

  19. I have only used 1688 as a research tool, using DuckDuckGo in Chrome, it translates the whole page for me, I like to see the prices in RMB. I have a Sourcing agent that is more of a VA/Logistics agent, she coordinates inserts, packaging, inspections and shipments. I normally ask her to receive samples from factories I found on Alibaba. Sometimes she will suggest a different one. If I get a failed inspection, she will do a 100% inspection and then work with the factory to resolve issues or replacements. Which might just be, cutting loose threads or cleaning etc Or repacking into stronger master cartons. Do most Sourcing agents do this ? or did I find a gem? (actually a friend referred her)

  22. 1688 is a good start if you have a freight forwarder that you already have a good relationship with.

    Things to consider when using 1688 WITHOUT a Chinese bank account with Alipay tourpass.
    – no large MOQ
    – Instant chat with supplier (in Chinese, but people can use google translate)
    – Offers a 7 day grace period to return products no questions asked (in China)
    – Use image search to find products, don't try to translate to Chinese, usually its bad translation results anyways
    – Always have a middle man to TOUCH the product before shipping overseas, after it leaves China, game over. After confidence with the product, start large orders
    – Look at the reviews before making the buying decision, if too cheap and crap reviews, bad sign
    – If you can do a video chat with the supplier with the product

    – Have a chance to get money back
    – All items already vetted for international export (a lot of fakes and sketchy items unvetted on 1688)
    – Can ship special items (like batteries, liquids, etc.)
